The joint pain can impair many activities you do daily, causing soreness, discomfort and inflamed joints. Lately, lots of people have such pains regardless of age or gender.It can be mild or even severe and chronic. The cardinal causes of such pain are arthritis and gout. Also broken or dislocated bones, strained muscles, leukemia, lupus, fibromyalgia and even bursitis. It can be more worsened by wrong med therapy, workouts or even alternative medicines. A lot of foods aid in removal of the pain such as garlic, ginger, turmeric… but lots of them also worsen the issue.
In case you have joint pain, avoid these foods:
1) Red and Processed Meat
Both have chemical purine and nitrite that make pain and inflammation worse. These foods also have toxins called glycation end products (AGEs) and they make inflammation more serious. A 2014 study of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) said that red meat glycan develops more inflammation and progress of cancer. Another strong study of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has proved a link between red meat and inflammation markers. Thus, you need to replace red meat with veggies and fruits.
2) Sugars and Artificial Sweets
Too much sugar makes more (AGEs) and inflammation. A study of 2014, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition said regularly eating sugar causes rheumatoid arthritis in women.
Avoid the sodas, sweets, cereals with sugar, snacks, pastries, candies…. as healthy options consider Stevia, Honey or Molasses.
3) Dairy Foods
They worsen the pain because they have a high amount of protein type that increases inflammation.
Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine said this same protein also irritates surrounding joint tissue. That pain is also linked to saturated fats in dairy (cheese, milk, butter…).
Replace the pasteurized milk with Almond, Soy Milk, Tofu, Margarine or similar.
4) Corn Oil
This oil is full of Omega-6 fatty acids that are harmful to us. The Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism stated in one study that more Omega-6 acids make the inflammation even worse. Such foods are salad Dressings, Grapeseed and Safflower oil, Peanut and Soy.
Do not remove the Omega-6 fully, it is still important but in moderation. eat more Omega-3 acids of Olive oil, Flaxseed, Nuts and Pumpkin Seeds.
5) Grains and Refined Flour
Due to high glycemic index, they trigger more (AGEs) and inflammation. Nutrients study have been published proves that daily eating wheat items and grain may cause autoimmune diseases chronically.
Replace the pasta, white flour, white rice, white bread with coconut, almond and brown rice.
Eating them regularly means more pain and swelling in joints. The yolk makes inflammation cause it has an arachidonic acid that makes prostaglandins (inflammation causes). Also, the yolk contains saturated fats which are very harmful too. However, keep the Egg white cause it is very beneficial.
7) Whey Proteins
The casein and gluten make the inflammation more serious. Casein creates uric acid, too much of it will inflame the joints and other body parts. A 2013 study of the Journal Nutrition Biochemistry, said gluten-free foods aid in inflammation reducing, adiposity and insulin resistance. A healthier option is to take lean proteins such as beans, seeds, and nuts.
8) Refined Salt
The salt we use is full of additives and chemicals that impair fluid balance inside our bodies. Also, this salt has no natural minerals like phosphorus. Instead, you have to minimal doses or buy Himalayan pink salt or sea salt.
9) Monosodium Glutamate Foods
Those flavor enhancers are in foods like frozen snacks, chips, frozen dinners, Chinese food, salad dressing, and soups. It is bad especially for those with rheumatoid arthritis. Remember, eating fresh and natural is always better.
Too much alcohol impacts the joints badly. Purines in beers turn into uric acid and this inflames the joints. Beer also has gluten in it and those with fragile joints must avoid it.
